Periodic Table, Op. 386 (2022)

with

I. Hydrogen

inspired by title of Andrew Stiller (b. 1946) - A Periodic Table of the Elements (1988) --

discovered in works list for Orchestra 2001 (recorded on A Descent Into the Maelstrom, 1995), as found in Jim Freeman's Making Music Together (2021) --

a nicely Stravinskian snippet of which can be heard at All Music.

As for present piece, first movement begins with Hydrogen's symbol H, transmuted to the German notation h = b-natural -- so, seems appropriate to trope that Alban Berg (1885-1935) Wozzeck (1922): Act III, 2-3 Scene Change music, sending it aerial in glissandi, since Hydrogen is so light, which can appropriately also include an alteration of Berg's clangerous chord, standing in for the Big Bang, and the creation of this first Element...

In doing research on Andrew Stiller, who certainoy merits a Wikipedia article, happen upon his presence on All Music and Musicalics... so, can't help but see what goes on there for

someone else (not much, but it's a start)...

Also partially update the Works website re

Duo Sonata No. 2, Op. 31 (1986 -- need 2 more YouTube videos eventually)

and more text, seemingly of course, vis a vis
